Package 'abinit' has no installation candidate  [SOLVED]

Post by yuanjie » Fri Jan 22, 2021 3:23 am

Install a precompiled version of ABINIT, just type:
sudo apt install abinit
and got the error:
E: Package 'abinit' has no installation candidate

I have alreadg implemented "apt update" and "apt upgrade", so what's the problem and how to fix that?

Thank you so much for your kindly help.

Hi,

Officially, we do not build packages for Abinit...
But, there are some possible sources anyway:

- under Ubuntu 18.04 (old version ) :
apt search abinit

abinit/bionic 8.0.8-4 amd64
package for electronic structure calculations

abinit-data/bionic,bionic 8.0.8-4 all
package for electronic structure calculations (Data files)

abinit-doc/bionic,bionic 8.0.8-4 all
package for electronic structure calculations (Documentation)
- nothing under Ubuntu 20.04
